So this winch is MEAN! Every time I stick my hand in the tank to do anything she bites the living crap out of me and it is progressively getting worse. I have tried wearing a ring so she will bite it instead of my flesh and its not working. Ugh. Anyone have any advice or do I just have to deal with this abuse?!

Just be glad its not a fish that has teeth. I have a hogfish that does that and the little teeth don't feel good. Thank God my triggerfish doesn't do that :) Seriously though and thankfully, my clown just bumps me and doesn't bite. I'm not sure if anything can be done. Maybe if you consistently go on the offense and scare it good it may help?

Lol.. oh the joy of having a "bitter" clown. Mine has actually landed on the rug several times trying to bite not just the hand in her tank, but the forearm above water level. Welcome to the club..lol

Before I got her, my black and white used to do it. She grabs a hold and tries to rip skin off. Kind of like a dog shaking a toy apart. I have a video of her trying to jump out of the water trying to get at me. I need like spiked gloves or something, maybe then she will learn her lesson. Lol

My "Princess" about a month back, came up at me, hit my forearm, and landed on the T5 lighting.

wow i am glad i am ot the only one with this problem i have 2 black and white and they jump out of the water to bite me before i even stick my hands in . my wife waves the claw grabber at them when i am in the tank to chase emm away like bees ,

I've been bit by a canary blenny, and it felt like a sting mixed with drips of lava on my hand...I was scraping an old tank and I didn't notice it was hiding behind a rock next to my hand..so as i got closer to it, it delivered a nice kiss....ouch

I have got rid of 2 mated sets of clowns becouse of the biting lol.

I have a black and white that likes playing jaws with handsand fish alike. I have tried feeding onthe other end of the tank and scaring it with several tools both just made itvery mad. I also put it in clown prison(my frag tank) for a month thought it would make her less territorial. That workedfor a week or two. Now if I have to do a lot of work in the tank I trap herwith food and a clear container then floatit while I am working.

I realize this about clowns, mine don't bite ... yet. BUT, I have a pair of yellow tailed damsels that nip at me. When they come at me I turn my hand towards them and flick my finger as if I was trying to shoot a marble. The little shock wave from my finger seems to be taken as a returned aggressive gesture and they back off. ................. Until I'm not watching, which is generally while I have a coral or something I want to be careful with in my hand. Then they attack and make me jump, I'm learning not to drop my beloved coral frag. You can't flick your finger at them when you are holding a coral frag, I think they figured that out. And it you think you can grab one while they are doing that so they can spend time out in the refugium, .. forget it.

That is a really good idea! Maybe I will start trapping her in the net before I do any work in the tank from now on.

My black and white female just started attacking my hand. It doesn't hurt when she nips, but the first time it startled me quite a bit. If she would have latched on, she would have carpet surfed.

That's great lol

So I went to scrub some coraline off the tank today and no attacks! Turns out she is terrified of the net so I just let it sit in the tank while I was working and she hid under a rock the whole time! Score!

I'm almost thinking it's a feeding response. I hand feed some of my fish with plastic tongs and she is one that will let me hand feed her. I think she is mistaking my hand for the tongs with food.

I had a biting clown at one point. I just did like the earlier poster and flicked it, hard. Took a couple whoopins, but it finally learned its lesson.
