Attacking Clowns

My pair of Darwin clowns attack my hands whenever they are in the tank. The little ***** nip at my fingers, esp. the female. And if I am using the turkey baster, they still go for my hand. How can I get them to stop?

For some reason, the 2 clowns, 2 chromis and bangaii all hang in one front corner of the tank. Have the entire 66 gal and they all hang together. Clowns like the suns and the zoas in that area as well.

Normal clown behavior unfortunately lol. I have a lightning maroon clown that is getting big enough to take skin off when she nips me.

Yeah I have a pair of big clowns and the female is mean as a snake. She likes to bite and rip as she goes for inbetween my fingers. She will bring blood and will almost jump out of the water for my fingers. It’s normal to me. I just try to distract her when I have to reach in.

Mine will come up and eat food from my fingers but will still attack if I'm moving my hand around their territory. Always a surprise to get hit!

My big female mocha clown is the same, she is smart, she goes for my knuckles. She is protecting her territory.

My clowns do the same. I ended up buying the long reef gloves so they can't bite me.

I got tired of it and I started shooting waves of water back at my little dude but then she would get scared when I put my hand back and I didn’t feel good about that. So I stopped and after a few months she’s back for blood. Get your self some long forceps or pipettes. that helps me keep my hands out most of the time now.

I got a pair of Coral Life gloves. they go all the way to your shoulder. The fish seem to stay away and even if they pick at you you dont feel it. I recommend these! They are very good quality as well!

My Clown attacks anything I put in the tank including my magnetic algae scraper and ME. I wear coral gloves if I'm gonna be in the tank a while. I used to chase her away but it didn't feel like the right thing to do, so I just wear the gloves. She bites them but it don't hurt me........ Vicious Clowns , gotta love them....
