I've been trying to breed my Ocellaris Clowns (Amphiprion Ocellaris) for about a year and have had little luck. I have researched and I read that they need their own aquarium and need a temperature of 80-82 degrees, a flat piece of rock or other object, such as ceramic tile, I did this in my old 30 gallon aquarium for about a month, but I sold the aquarium to my cousin and i'm looking for a 55-75 gallon on craigslist. Anyways I need some tips on breeding them and the cost to setup the tank(s) will be about $1000, I'll be breeding "Amphiprion Ocellaris" and "Amphiprion Percula".

Awsome any pics and or videos of your pair...First thing you need is ***** lots of patients and time. the rest is papa. looks like you've studied a bit from the info you gave.. what type of system are you building for $1k thats alot, i would rather buy a couple pairs for that price and just spend no more than $200.00 on a nice setup... anyways goodluck and i look foward to see pics of your pair!!

Higher temps, lower salinity, and lots of feeding will help to encourage them to breed. There is a lot of good info out there you just have to dig for it. There are a few threads out there where people have logged their breeding projects, I suggest reading through those and try to learn from other's mistakes. And like oceancube said $1000 seems like a lot. I'd start off with a small setup and upgrade once you start to have some success.

Thanks, here is a video of my tank http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIfafSHA2ys I said about 1k because I'm wanting to get a setup just for the fry, also i want to get the pair their own setup, I might look on Craigslist and find it cheaper but who knows, I hope I get some luck with breeding them! :)

That's what I started doing about looking for other people's mistakes and that's what I was thinking getting a small setup and once I have some success upgrade, anyway thanks! :)

Start small as a home breeder, look at me ive got 2 pairs breeding and i cant even keep up with one pair, lots of work and time.IVE barely upgraded my growout system about two weeks ago and i honestly spent about $200.00 total in 6 20tall aquariums a diy stand and bulkheads... start slow and work your way up. in time you will be full of babies it wont be funny.... If you got any questions just ask,i can help some and theres other cool breeders like me that will also chime in for advice... goodluck
