hey mates. got the tank out storage. Much to my suprise my Marineland 54 corner bow stand (matte black) is scuffed up here and there. I would really love to refinishing the stand before setting it up in the house. What's the best way to touch it up? Should I repaint the ENTIRE stand? I'm thinking about just getting a quart of krylon flat/ matte black paint and sponge brush in the morning. I've washed the entire cabinet down to get all the debris and dirt off it already.

I'm also going to paint the back corners of the tank. Everything I've read is use a latex based black and paint it on. any tips on the tank as well?

THANKS in advance,
MIKE

Did you make any progress on this?

I refinished the same exact stand. I just cleaned it up real good and sanded the spots that needed sanding and primed with black primer where ever I needed to and painted the whole stand with a couple coats of krylon satin paint, it looked like brand new. Make sure to use satin paint though, it looks better and is more durable than flat and also cleans up better. If you try to touch it up it won't look right, spraying it will give you the best results.

I didn't sand anything. IMO I don't think my tank needed to be sanded (fortunately). I did buy a quart of satin black paint and a nice 2" brush. Repainted the entire stand. It looks really nice. I was nervous because, I'm a terrible painter. lol. I have the tank filled now. Gonna wait about 10 days. on the right hand side on the bow side, I noticed from top to botom the silicone has a slight curl to it (maybe a mm). called Li at Saltwater Empire. He told me it was most likely caused by me scrubbing algae and it's probably not a big deal at all as long as it holds water for the 10+ days. All the other seals feel nice and spongey. no peels, or cracks. I think I'm in business soon!
