Attention Evo 13.5 Gallon Owners!!!! Flow Question

What are you all using for powerheads in this tank?

I am about to upgrade the return to the Sicce 1.0 ( have had it just haven't had time to install )

I have a AI prime 16 over the tank, and am slowly adding SPS so i know i will need some more flow, i bought a power head that was 1050 GPH and its just WAY to powerfull so i will now be using that to mix water.

Im looking for 1x 400ish GPH or two smaller 240 GPH slim like the old Hydro nanos

What are you all using?!?

i just installed the Hygger mini wave maker. It comes at a great price on Amazon so a really good bang for the buck. I also really like how compact this unit is and can provide alot of flow if needed. So far im liking what i see and have read alot of good reviews.

I've been running the Hygger mini wavemaker, I do like it, but it still almost seems a bit much with some of my softies. It will be going into a Waterbox 20 at the end of the month. I took it out of the Evo for a Sicce Voyager nano that is 270gph. I have noticed that my corals seem to get puffier when the flow is lower and I have the voyager set on a Kasa plug to turn off and on throughout the day.

I run the stock return pump and an AI Nero 3 on mine. Seems to work well
The Nero is placed dead center on the back wall about 2" below the surface. I ramp it up to about 60% in its modes

After you install the Sicce 1.0 you may decide you don't need a powerhead. That's what happened with me. It's a lot of flow for the tank.

i just installed it yesterday so it's close to the top. I can be pretty strong for the Fluval Evo but seems to work out.
I have it on 40% power so i'd say based on the 1600gph, 40% is around 640


As John just mentioned, you may want to wait till you upgrade to the Sicce 1.0. I have been running with the Sicce 1.0 for about 4 months without the powerhead and it was fine.

I did have an Eheim 1000 for a bit, but changed it to the Sicce 0.5 and like it much better for flow. The Eheim with the Hygger was just too much in some spots. As with many things in reefing, varied results depending on rockwork and corals.

Stock return ( want a Sicce .5 I think is the model) and a fluval c1 on the other side but same end as the return. I had a Jaeboo (or whatever it is) but it was too much and not adjustable enough for my taste so, I am looking for something else to replace the C1.
