Attention Orphek Atlantik Owners

6+ months in- lots of acro death:

Connectivity issues largely resolved after receiving THIRD gateway from orphek; thanks...however... if this loses connection you wont know it, it defaults to Acclimation schedule as a safety.... or unsafe? Now lights are depowered and there is no really telling indicator unless you check. Correct me if im wrong but lights on/off time coukd very well be the same as your usual-fully connected schedule. Its hard to see by naked eye if channels are not what you program

Did this cause my tissue necrosis issues? I run a growout tank with hydra 52 hd, same water, WAY better color, better growth, and no tissue loss on growout acros

I do not have a par meter
Ive grown acros successfuly for many years T5 and reefbrite and AI HYDRA primarily. Not succeeding with orphek.

Heres my schedule (when/if it is actually running normally and connected!)

Appreciate any comments on the schedule:
-Greg

If you check other threads I think you will find that most run their lights at close to 100%. One of the benefits of these lights is that you can run them that high and get tremendous PAR readings without killing your corals. Yes, the app defaults to acclimation but my experience is that the lights stay as you have programmed them. I have had mine set the same through numerous power outages etc. and while the app says "acclimation" the lights are as I programmed them 6 months ago.

FWIW I have been using v4 since Sept of last year with 0 issues from the lights. I have had plenty of power outages and it has retained my program. However if you open the app it looks like acclimation as it seems to default to that view. I have had 0 issues connecting at any time, however after the 1st few times I don't really mess with my schedule anymore.

I was not pleased to buy the gateway, however it's similar to how AI used to connect. It's nice AI is now wireless built in and hope Orphek will go that way in time. However the controller and controls are still ahead of Kessil, so that is a wash to me. Not quite as advanced, but not last either. But it has been reliable to me and that is what I am concerned with.

I will say that at least with the v4 if you have having coral death it's 100% not the light. Having run the other top 3 brands multiple times the orphek is in a league of it's own IMO. Here is a maxima clam I have which is more light demanding than acros:

Photo 1 and 2 are 9 days apart. Photo 3 is 2.5 weeks after photo 2. The growth is pretty insane.

I have V4's as well. Nothing but success here (sps dominated reef). When you open the app, click on "Program" it shows
" Slow Acclimation", however, that is not what I have programmed. What you see is a default from the programming.
If you then click on your your "set up name"( whatever you chose to name your lights) it will then show what you actually have programmed. Its a small bug, but way better than using Radion software any day.

I still haven't installed my Lights so as soon as mine all set up over my SCA 150 I will advise!!
Also, I will be using there Mounting Leg Kit for my both Compacts, then I am planning on floating my canopy so you will not be able to see the lights.
It's taking a little longer then I thought, but just waiting on someone to help me move my 150 in the correct location in my house and a course I still have to plumb my tank which should only take a day or two since I pretty much know how I am going to be running everything.

@CastAway -

Did you contact @Orphek direct and what did they have to say if you don't ask yet?

Also, TheReefKeeper - I am getting ready to install my new compacts how did you run yours for the first few months? I don't want to run into any algae blooms.

So I started with the color program that’s already installed

I've been running 4 - V4's since Nov '18. I think I'm getting them dialed in, however I was wondering if other Orphek users have the same anomaly I have with the app. When programming I have the following: Red Line = White LED | Green Line = Blue LED | Blue Line = Ultra Violet LED | White Line = Red LED. Very odd. It shows this way for me on both Android and IOS.
