Saw this in the acrylic thread also. Do you have any ideas for options for us "non-industrial" folks that are learning to play with acrylic? I guess I should say short of making our own. A little disappointed to read this as I was just getting the hang of this art.

I'll buy some and mail it to you. haha....jk. probably illegal now.

You'll still be able to get it. This is the same thing that happened with phosphates being removed from your automatic dishwasher detergent (this is why they don't clean as well as they used to). You can still get it as a "commercial" product. Quite frankly, the EPA is an organization that could/should go away and we'd be a lot better off for it. Unchecked regulatory power is never good.

Really?!?!

The EPA is anything but "unchecked regulatory power". I trust the government infinitely more than I would ever trust industry to have my best interests in mind. Keep getting the phosphate filled dishwashing powder, I hear the Chesapeake Bay needs more algal growth than it already has

It sucks about the acrylic bond, but if it is keeping me from breathing a ton of carcinogens then more power to the rules.

I ordered some (#4) on Amazon last night. Order went through but it will be interesting if I actually receive it!!! Time to stock up if we can!!!

You may have agreed to some buried statement that you are a commercial business who does not work near schools or in a home.

Why don't we ask Colorado, the gulf of mexico, or Flint about how well the EPA has looked out for them.....

Oddly enough, not so. There was one vendor that indicated you have to have a "commercial" account to order, but the one I ordered from didn't say boo. Again, not sure if they will actually fulfill the order but here's hoping. And by the way, I promise not to use it near a school or "in" my house.

Keep us updated!

Will do if you were directing this at me...lol.

@cromag08, just in case they do send it, is there a shelf life to an un-opened, sealed can of #4? And while I'm at it, how long can one keep an open can and expect it to still work properly?

Iirc, one year unopened. . there's a date code on the container.

As someone who works for the Florida DEP and was intimately involved with the DWH oil spill, I can tell you that if the EPA had the regulatory power that it needs, that accident would never have happened. The Keystone pipeline and DAPL wouldn't be options, and we wouldn't be hearing every other day about another pipeline spill.
Remember that chemical spill in West Virginia a few years ago that poisoned water for 30,000 people? That happened because of poor environmental regulation. And taxpayer money ended up paying for the cleanup because of poor environmental laws.

I ordered #4 last week from Amazon and it arrived without issue. It was even available "Prime", so it came next day.

I'm looking into this issue with other distributors as well as directly with ips.

It doesn't say anything about weld on #16. If 3 and 4 are discontinued just use 16.
