I got this yesterday morning, did a float and 60 min drip acclimation due to the SG difference between my system and what the coral came in. I read elegance can have issues with dips so I skipped on that. Now this thing is in my 90G that has my CUC, a cleaner shrimp, and 35ish misc corals and frags awaiting my new tank setup. I just did a 15G water change this past weekend and all my other corals are as happy as a clam. Yet today, it looks like the flesh is stringing off of the coral. It hasn't opened since I got it, and it is alone in the back corner where flow and light is lower.

SG 1.025
ALK 9.1
CAL 425
MAG 1230
Nitrates and Phos barely register

I feed the tank with some reefroids and/or sprin/mysis once a week or so to feed, my lights are low on acclimation mode right now less than 2 weeks into a 60 day acclimate that started at 35%

How much was the salinity difference.
Whats the tank temp

This is not good. Maintain the low light. . . moderate water flow and water temp 77-79

dangit, that's the one I forgot, ya tank stays 78-78.5 this time of year. Here is a better to see pic, looks like pulling cotton or polyester batting apart. I thought it was mucus this afternoon so gave it a gentle puff from my feeder baster and the stuff just comes off.

Fine, closed up. Kicked off a bit of mucus when it first went into the tank but nothing alarming. The package it arrived in, was early and cool. Think the inside was about 76deg.

could something have gone wrong during acclimation? I don’t drip anything, float and drop (dip sometimes). That said I have dipped an elegy with 0 issues. I never drip. Not saying that is an issue, but just throwing it out that something could have gone wrong. Too much temp flux?

When you put it in the aquarium, was it fluorescing? I’ve had a few elegances and they were all mostly open when they arrived and all were fluorescent immediately in the tank.

Less than 2 deg difference from arrival and tank temp. I only dripped cause SG was .003 difference otherwise I wouldn't have.

Not so much, but was in a dimmer area and this ones color wasn't the typical green and purple. I had one before, bought at LFS though... but it opened up within 2-3 hours of being in the tank. I'd see others say elegance could take a few days so wasn't worried until I saw it this afternoon appearing to loose flesh.

0.003 is a lot in 60 mins, shoot for 0.001 per hour unless fish, whish are more tolerant. That would kill an urchin, done it.

If you start seeing skeleton blades the gig’s up. Unfortunately I think it was already in trouble when you got it. I don’t think they’re as resilient as bubble coral but then again, who knows? Good luck friend.
