A word of caution to potential buyers... after agreeing to purchase this colony I paid James his asking price via paypal. He asked me to pay as friends and family or cover the fees. Opting to protect myself I paid the fees. Payment cleared my account, however paypal put a hold on it on his end, I believe because his paypal account is new. James was frustrated with this and called paypal multiple times trying to get them to make the funds available for him to withdraw prior to shipping. They clearly communicated to him the funds would be made available once a tracking number showing delivery had been provided.

He asked me multiple times to send payment through Venmo or another form of online payment. After a week of holding my money it was refunded. James refused to ship the colony even though Paypal made it very clear he would be paid once proof of delivery was provided. To me this behavior raises a red flag.

I don't know why he wanted to withdraw or spend the funds prior to shipping the coral. I would caution any potential buyer to make sure they are paying with a method that provides buyer protection or are picking the colony up in person.

Everything is true. You should put the weather condition issue too, thank you and sorry. And i decided to keep the colony.

If you are willing to frag a head, I am interested in a LA/OC area Pick Up.

The same thing happened to me as well. The money was refunded after a week after the same circumstances as stated above.

Hello everyone. Just wanted to make a quick post. It is against selling forum rules for sellers to ask a buyer to send friends and family or ask a buyer to pay PayPal or other fees.
From selling forum rules stickie:

“Sellers are not allowed to ask buyers to PayPal as gift. Any selling fees must be included in the asking price. If you are found to be asking for payments as a gift your sales thread will be removed and you may lose your selling privileges all together.”

“Hey everyone, we have had the rule for some time that "Sellers may not ask buyers to PayPal as gift. Any selling fees should be included in the asking price."

However, we have just added the following clarification: If you are found to be asking for payments as a gift your sales thread will be removed and you may lose your selling privileges all together.

Pulling selling privileges is something we avoid doing, but this is an important issue and we feel it is necessary to make this clarification as a measure to protect our members. Just wanted to draw your attention to the addition. Now you may resume your regular thread browsing.”

Full selling forum rules can be found here:
https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/selling-trading-forum-rules-please-read-before-posting.115471/

Please also take a look over this thread to protect yourself from selling issues:

https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/watch-out-before-buying-or-selling.201631/

Specifically this:

Do not send money as a gift (PayPal's Friends and Family option), EVER!!!! R2R has updated the selling forum rules where members must not ask for the items to be sent as a gift. If you send the money as a gift, you will lose any chance of protection with paypal. Also, try to use a credit card as your payment with paypal. If for some reason the transaction goes south and paypal does not side with you, you may have protection from the credit card issuer and you can open a dispute with them.”

Please feel free to on myself or any other staff member if you have any questions.

This thread will be closed as the op has decided to keep his torch colony.
