Hey I was wondering if any one can help me figure out why my Torch is not opening up all the way. I have had the Torch for 7 days now and still has not opened 100%. All my parameters are stable minus my phosphates are high.

Welcome to reef2reef !!!
What type of flow is it in ?

Hello and #welcometoR2R

Euphyllia can be a bit finicky when moving from tank to tank.

A good pic would help.

Also, do you have your latest readings for alk, nitrates, and phosphates?

We can start there to see if there may or may not be an issue

What he said! I especially find certain species are worse. In my limited experience it seems their sensitivity is torch>hammer>frogspawn.

Flow could be a factor. One thing to try might be to move it to a lower flow area for a while until it's acclimated.

I have 2 MP40 in a 6' x 2' x 2' tank and I have the torch about half way down with moderate flow as it is behind a rock.

Alk 8.1
Cal. 435
Phosphate .21

Here are some better photos

It appears to be near the same level as your nem, which I am assuming is high light.

I would definitely move it to the bottom for lower light and low flow to start.

I would take a month or 2 to move it to where you want it.

And even then, it may not like the spot you want.

Euphyllia tend to like certain spots in my experience and you have to find that spot.

And then if you change your lights or flow, it may not like it again

I started with it on the bottom of the tank for 2 days it was worse then it is now. So I moved it higher up and its opened a little bit still not even close to fully.

Hmmm.

Well, what you are experiencing is typical.

If it’s better now than it was, leave it alone for another week or so.

They really can be temperamental just like leathers IME.
