I just got one in from Diversden and wondering what lighting you folks keep yours in....I have another favia that I had to raise up a bit so it would keep the pink centers. This one I am not sure I plan to start on the bottom on the sand. 24''h on the tank with 250w 14k Hamilton SE supplimented with 2x24w T-5 UVI Super actinics.....Let me know what you guys keep yours at cause I want to keep the colors on this thing. From the pic of the site it looked like it might be Dragon soul/Crown of Jewels favia......

Does this look like a Crown Jewel favia?

Definitely looks to be same favia as the Dragon Soul ska Crown of Jewels, do yourself a favor a find an overhang or shaded spot to place it, they barely need a flicker of light to be at their best coloration

Hey Favia, will that keep the highlighter yellow hues that it has? The coloration is really great. In the pics I have one T-5 reflector pointed up so it wasn't lighting the tank as well. I would like to keep the shimmering highlighter hue that it has so I take it a shaded area like it is in now will do that? Many more types of brains then when I was keeping them 15 years ago when I was really into Favia and Favites......It also has a small barnical in it you can see the hole on the right side in between the 2 polyps......

All I can say is to buy this from on-line shops that I have been looking at would be 5x what I paid......I have been looking at Crown of Jewels and some places wanted $30+ a polyp.....

I forgot to add that it is getting very indirect lighting right now sitting under my pagoda cup coral.......

The low light should make the highlighter yellow pop even more, it has in my experience under 20k at least, just keep a close eye, any fading of color should be an indicator of too much light as opposed to too little light

I just figured the same thing out with mine recently. I have it totally shadowed under a rock ledge, and its starting to look promising!

I have another that I have had less success with.

I got this one a few months ago and although it is healthy, and huge, its light green with darker green centers. should I try the very low light with it also?

I avtually moved it to under a ledge that is in the rock work where it get seriously in-direct lighting, like not quite completly shaded out but close.....It is also sitting more verticle now then it was. I have notived that it has really puffed out now....I will get some updated pics today.
