Hey! So I saw a post a few years ago and just thought U raise the question again, as it's been a few years and maybe there's more information out there. What's the difference between aussie torches and indo torches?

Thanks Tiegan

I could give a few basic one's but let's throw up the bat signal & try to get the best answer @MERKEY

Indo torches tends to have thinner tentacles and longer, also smaller heads and lots more morph (coloration) to choose from. Aussies have fatter tentacles and tends to have shorter tentacles and fatter heads also.

Excellent descriptions and those are 100% the major physical differences.

Not sure if indo really does have more variety but it seems that way ;Hilarious

One really crucial difference is the part of the ocean they come from.

Indo waters are much warmer than aussie waters and leads to one reason a lot of hobbiests have a hard time keeping aussie torches for extended periods.

It seems 6 months to a year is about the length of time after imported.

There are the occasional reefer that has a huge colony that survived and adapted to warmer temps.

Those are the ones I'd be searching for if I was to add an aussie torch.

There are a few members here who have some nice ones!

Might also add that Aussie torches tend to be slower growers vs indo torches. Often times you see indos start to split again before fully splitting. Success rate is hit or miss for Aussies. My Aussie gold that I bought back in July 2020 is doing well, despite some tank struggles. I did quarantine one for a friend not too long ago and that just melted away over several weeks. Both from same seller. I have yet to lose an indo.

Wow - these differences are spot on to what I see in my torches!
