Australian Acans not available for importation? Massive bleaching event!

I heard that large amounts of rain has bleached collection sites in Australia resulting in any collecting coming to a halt. Anyone heard any news of this?

Although I have heard of a substantial amount of rain in Australia as of late. Haven't heard about it harming the reefs though. That is pretty incredible news if so...prices will begin to skyrocket!

Due to the rain in Australia visibility is very low which is making it impossible for the divers to collect, this happens every year. To my knowledge the weather has not damaged the reef or coral on the reef.

The manager at my LFS was telling me about that last week. He said that he's able to get Aussie fish & some other corals in, but he hasn't been able to get any acans in for a while.

Just talked to the wholesaler I deal with at the store I work at and he said (like mentioned above) there is a time every year that the rains make the water hard to see in and hard to collect.
He said that shipping stuff from Australia in general is a pain in the butt, with most stuff not surviving the shipping.

I have also heard news that a new area of Australia is being collected from, which will mean new acan color morphs and other coral morphs we may have not seen in the hobby.

I'm pretty sure I heard something about corals being collected in western Australia. I think I saw in in a reef magazine. The article said lots of nice acans and some pretty unusual favias. Don't quote me I will look into it more.

We imported some acans from Aussie last Friday. Weather and other factors cause the supply to change during certain times of the year. Now is the busy season and also the time weather is typically at its worst in Australia. This makes getting supply of them a bit harder than usual. Fortunately we have several hundred in stock to ensure a steady supply to our wholesale customers. There has been a voluntary closer by the collectors in certain areas to let the reefs recover from rough weather. This has not greatly affected supply. We greatly respect the collectors for putting the animals health ahead of profits. Australia continues to lead the way to promote and practice sustainable and ethical harvest of reef animals.

I've talk to many wholesaler and no one seems to have any Acans in stock. ERI is overpriced. I'll give it to Eye Catching Coral cause your stock list is full of acans.
