Australian Dendrophyllia

Please read this. :)

That's Cladopsammia gracilis, much more difficult to care for long term than any Dendrophyllia spp. There's some info in the link above regarding they're care... in short they're not a great option for most reef tanks.

Idk, this looks like what we have.

Ok. Guess I'll just wait the 14 days on it. I've never had a pipe organ, but from what read, they don't like target feedings. I'll just wait and see.

Idk man, we let it acclimate for a lil while then put it in, few hours later it started to open up a bit.

I'm hoping. Telling u they all arrived in bad shape. They must of thrown the boxes at usps.

Yeah. Already have a claim for two zoa frags. The third zoa have one polyp open. Another polyp looks like it wants to open. Waiting to see what they do.

And yes! It was the last one! We tried ordering two but it said they only had one left. Had to jump on it quick!
I wonder if they would work with me on my claim. What I mean is, what if I say or ask if I can order a hammer from their next batch. Put the refund towards that. Hoping it would guarantee me one. so I'm extra curious to know how your hammer specimen is. Keep me updated if you can. Thanks.

Hmm. Maybe.
And i sure will!

Hey bud, the pipe organ is in light flow.
Cool. Thanks man. Still hasn't opened. Just moved it to lower flow. Giving it a few more days...if not submitting a claim for it. Already got my zoa claim approved.

Sweet. My dendro was opening too! It's still not fully opened, but bigger each day.

Sweet. Mine too...kind of. I see the fleshy part come out a smidgen here and there. No tentacles/polyps yet. I spot feed it (as my freaking clownfish nips at my hand to defend the tank), and have only done the "Tupperware feeds" once. Probably do it again after work today.

He was SLOW to come out for me. Just gotta be patient. He'll come out eventually.

Light isn't going to be a factor for the dendro if you're feeding it properly as well as moderate flow. I've got mine at the top of my tank right now under decent flow and as long as I feed it(brine is mostly what I use) on a daily basis it stays open nearly all the time. This same piece has grown over my glue job and sprouted a new baby.

Oh I forgot I wanted to let you know that when I really have trouble coaxing it out I use reef roids or something similar. I mix up a little bit use my Baster to get a little around the polyp and wait to feed something larger.

Thanks! Imma have to try that.

What's better? Reef Roids or Reef Frenzy?

I have both as I'm sure many hobbyist do and I couldn't tell you I've never looked into the nutritional value down to k/j and all that macro stuff which is where energy and all that come from ya know? However, I can say I will always keep one form or another of this type of food handy.
