Hey all - I just picked up an awesome gold hammer (looks green here, but it's gold). I placed it in a nice little spot but now I'm wondering if it's getting too much flow. I have my MP40's on reef crest, so you can see a bit of a higher flow moment here in the video. It's only been in there for less than a day, so not nearly opened up at all. I'm just worried about moments when you can see the skeleton structure underneath.

Too much? Thanks.

I wouldn't say that's too much, but it's on the border. For it to grow properly and to have good polyp extension, I would recommend placing it close to a rock to shield it from too much turbulence. They do best in low to mod flow.

My torches and candy canes can take more flow than my frogspawn or hammers.

Hey thanks all. I might just move it to the substrate where there's less flow. The weird thing is that it's getting that much flow from an mp40 about 50inches away.

I'll update with a new video tomorrow night. I moved him to the substrate and put him about 20% between two rocks, but still out in the open so he gets light and a bit of flow.

I have a hammer that started as two heads and is now about 30 nearby....hopefully that's a sign of things to come. I'd very much so like to frag this guy to get back some of the $$$$$!

So here is an updated video of placement. The MP40's are only on about 60% this early in the morning, and just after I stopped filming it got a bit more flow in there so it's pulsing up and down. I just fed Reef Chili so you can see the flow of particles zipping by....I wonder if it's too low now. I can move it out from that rock a bit.

Thanks for the update, I think it would certainly be okay there, but a bit more flow would be beneficial. The flow on that torch above it to the right looks about perfect.

That flow looks perfect!

Hey here's a question on this guy - as you can see in the photos it looks really green...but in the shop it was 100% gold. That's why I grabbed it!

Could it just be my light spectrum? I'm running Radion x30's on SPS schedule so mostly blue...not a lot of red at all. It's bright green, which is cool, but I want the gold back. Any ideas? Thanks.

Play with your lights some. Gold and blue should make green, so maybe a little less blue?

Ah that makes sense....

I'm 100% blue...running that SPS A+ Radion schedule. I might try lowering it down to like 14k or something. Thanks for the tips.
