I like where my tank is at, but I attribute a large portion of the tank success to weekly 5g water changes with Red Sea coral pro salt.

Would it be practical to get a 3-4 channel dosing unit so I can replenish elements absorbed by my coral? I would love to reduce water changes to much much less frequently, but would like the dosing to be automatic (yes, I know a lot of testing for weeks would be required daily to determine quantity of dosing).

I’m not to worried about nitrates rising (I think) as I have a AquaC Remora S skimmer in the tank which is way overkill and I also have a JBJ nanoglow in the back side of the tank where I grow chaeto. I don’t want to ruin a good thing, but I’d love to deal with buckets and not a weekly basis.

Thoughts?

It is less to do the water change per week. Setup a auto water change system.

Agree with jsker - while you could always setup a doser, on a tank that small it may be harder to dial it in since the consumption will be so little, and the wc's have the added benefit of keeping your other parameters neatly in line. You could set up system to make water changes easier, or automatic - plumbed to a reservoir where turning a couple valves drains and refills the tank with fresh saltwater, or something like the neptune DOS can be setup to do a auto-water change (or "continuous" water change) pretty easily, if you have an Apex. But, if you like your tank now, as the saying goes - if it ain't broke don't fix it : ) Keep the water changes, just make them easier on your self by automating it, or turning a few valves...

I like the idea of a more easy water change a lot
