After watching that video I was curious if anyone has tried to do a similar thing? I'm thinking about setting it up so a DOS system would dose enough water to overflow the container into the tank slowly, but yet allow enough time for the pods and phytoplankton to grow and multiply without having to start over with a new batch. Input? Would you use your tank water to replenish the water in the container? Or to make it more sterile dose from a separate container of fresh salt water?

I bet he had to take most of those leds off that tank.
When I made mine I had to go down to 2-1/2 wraps since it heated the culture up way too much.

He said in the comments that it crashed. You can't use tank water. Eventually the bacteria and zoo plankton will over run the culture.

I am building a set up now and if you want to do this you really need to size it right for your tank and use two containers. The containers should hold a weeks worth of phyto. One to culture and then another to dose. So while you're feeding with one, the other is growing. If you can set it up vertically a simple valve installed with a tee and airline check valve at the middle of the culture container draining into the feed container will allow you to easily split the culture, yet keep the culture container from getting contaminated. The air line check valve will allow the tubing to drain. And you could purge it with a squirt of rodi water. Use an Aqua Lifter or dosing pump to refill the culture and have a little port for fertilizer. Then you could run tank water through the feed container, but fresh salt water would be best. I'd want to use an overflow design so tubing doesn't get fouled.
