Hello,
After manually dosing for the last 12 years (topping off manually for 12 years too) I finally invested in both modern solutions to this daily chore.
Now, before installing my auto doser I was manually dosing 12.5ml alk and 10ml CA every day at the same time. My levels would read the same every day or be slightly off by .5 or 10. I was getting 8.5 alk and 450 calcium every day for two weeks after testing at the same time.
So my tank was consuming about 1.0 in alk a day. After testing without dosing for 24 hours, and testing again. I use Salifert test kits.
Tank:
25 gallon
Mixed reef, mostly LPS and a few zoas.
Now I have my auto doser dosing 12ml a day for both calcium and alk for the last 3 days. I dose each every other hour, 1ml. So alk 1pm cal 2pm. So an hour apart for each.
First two days test results:
Alk 8.0
Ca 420
Alk 8.3
Ca 400
And then I tested this morning instead of at night expecting similar numbers and:
Alk 9.3
Ca 440
Can you help me troubleshoot this? I'm not understanding.
