Hello everyone!

I have a 55 gallon reef tank, I’ve been putting probably 3/4-1 gallon of RODI water in it everyday, I’m pretty much getting sick of doing this. As everyone would be.

I have my RODI system that pumps into food grade buckets that don’t leech, and I fill up FIJI bottles that say they don’t leach with BPA free. I’ve been testing some of these bottles lately because I’m getting red algae that is usually caused by bad water. I’ve noticed that the water quality goes up on the TDS kit everyday by .01, which isn’t bad at all, but other bottles don’t go up at all???

I sometimes put Calcium or Magnesium or Reef Buffer or Alkalinity in these bottles to dose the tank, after every use, it’s cleaned then fresh RODI is placed in them.

My question, is there any Auto Top Off systems that hook to the display tank? I use a massive canister filter that’s designed probably for a 200-300 gallon tank. I have a large amount of coral and don’t want to see any huge outbreaks of algae.

Most ATO systems hook only to a sump, so that’s where I’m finding issues. Please help!

Also, for dosing, is there any much better plastic that doesn’t leech? Would hate to use glass for dosing.

RO/DI water will 'pull' TDS from the surrounding air so your containers may not be leaching anything but just from transferring the water and causing the RO/DI water to move around, it may be drawing TDS from the surrounding room air which is resulting in your gradual increase of TDS.

Do you not have a sump you could have your ATO fill up?

No sump, 55 gallon tank, pointless to install a sump. My Radion lights just suck up so much.

It can pull TDS from the surrounding air, even with the bottle sealed?

I mean you drastically reduce the TDS if you keep the containers closed. but keep in mind that TDS can be pulled from the air, or collected when the containers are left empty and then refilled. As long as people are reading 0 PPM when the RO/DI water is made, they don't worry too much about reading it in their storage containers.
