Hello refers of another question for you I just set up my ATO and as I'm sitting here watching my tank the pump keeps going off quite often. I have the sensor in my sump tank in the section with my return pump which seems to deplete faster than the other two compartments When evaporation occurs. The question is is it normal for my ATO to be turning the pump on very often ?

Mine doesn't run a lot at all. One tank evaporates maybe 1/2 gallon a day and the other 2 gallons last about 6 days. I know if the water level fluctuates it will come on.

Evaporation depends on a few variables so the amount that is depleted will vary system to system. Mark a line on your return section and watch it to see if to much is being added. My ATO turns on a few times a day more so in the warmer months as I sometimes run a fan. Also in a normal sump configuration only one chambers water level will go down as water is evaporated because in order for the water to run through the sump it must rise above the baffles so the water level won't go below the baffles. The same thing goes for AIO tanks. Hope this helps

I don't know why my pump is turning on every 2 minutes something is wrong :(

And Mopar you are right. When it's time to top off the only section in my sump that goes down is my return section idk why. So I put the ato sensor inside that compartment But the ATO is going off way to much idk what's up?

What ATO system are you using? My Tunze ATO would get false reading of low water when bubbles would accumulate around the sensor. Also it's normal for only the return chamber to get low.

Depending on the type of ATO (like the micro ATO) you may be creating a siphon pulling water out of the sump and back into the ATO reservoir thus lowering the level and triggering the ATO to turn on. If you forgot to instal the siphon break this would happen.

Every two mins is not normal. You might try adding a piece of pvc or container around the float so it isn't bouncing up and down as much with the flow through that chamber. Also, if it is on every two mins I'm surprised it hasn't filled the tank by now. . .

The reverse siphon is a good point. Is the ATO supply tube under water?

I'd bet this is what's happening. If it is, you'll probably need to empty your top off reservoir and refill it with RODI water since it will have pulled saltwater back into it. Additionally, check the salinity of your tank water as it will likely have been diluted.

Yes the tube is actually under the water I should pull it back out and see if that helps
