What do you use for top off?
Currently have a problem with a little bit high sailnity levels and wondering if use of salted water for top up of evaporation can be a reason

100% the reason.

When the water evaporates, the salt stays behind in the aquarium, so if you're adding salt water via your ATO you're only increasing your salinity.

Unless you have good reason, you should use RODI water for your auto top up as this replaces the pure water that evaporates and therefore keeps the salinity stable

If you keep adding saltwater, your adding salt every time you top off, water evaporates and you then add more, so salinity will keep increasing

ATO systems are intended to replace evaporated water.

Salt doesn't evaporate.

Only use fresh RO/DI for your ATO system.

AWC systems, on the other hand, remove water and add it at the same rate. These systems require salt water.
