Auto top up

I currently top up my aquarium manually, but thinking at some point I will install an auto top up unit.

There are several around tmc, smart ato, hydor wave and reefloat to name a few.

Just wondering what peoples experiences and thoughts on them are. Which would you recommend?

I use a Tunze Osmolator 3155 in both my tanks and love it. Makes life so much easier!!!

i use a v2 auto top up its great i left a compartment in my sump that holds about 10 litres i fill it once a week . and it sorts it self out tops up with ro the same temp as the tank water .great for holidays

I have a Top-it-off kit from Aquahub, and all in (kit, pump, container), my top off kit cost about $70. Love it!

I'm using a jbj ato. It works just fine, and hard to beat for $60

We use the SMART Ato for our JBJ 30g nano and it works perfect.....

On our main DT, ... Neptune breakout box w/ float swts..Apex controlled.

I had nothing but trouble with 2 JBJ ATO unit. They may be less money but not dependable in our tanks. I tossed them away.

I have been afraid to try an Top Off system. I have heard horror stories about them sticking and flooding the house. Are these stories a reality or just a very random fluke?
My tank is upstairs and I would rather not flood two floors if it goes crazy.

They are both,

Sometimes you just get a bad one, or another component of the top off fails and makes a chain reaction.

The 2 JBJ ATO units we had just never worked right from the get go. We had a flooded dining room once due to failure.

But once replaced with good quality units they have been perfect.

I use my Apex to run a float valve for my 20 gallon ATO.

I used a jbj before I had an apex it was ok, but not as great as the apex setup.
