Auto topoff

I have been thinking about this for a couple days now and in my head sounds like it will work but I might be missing something.

Can you use a RODI for an auto topoff? I don’t have room for a separate holding tank. But have access to water supply from sink behind display. My thought is put RODI under kitchen sink run water line to the display sump and put a float like my saltwater station. Would this work?

You can, however, there is an amount of risk involved. If the float switch were to ever fail you now have an infinite supply of water being pumped into your tank. If you have an auto top off you at least have a finite amount of water that can be pumped into the tank before the reservoir runs out.
