has anyone used one of these systems I work 5:30-6:00 so it would help if they work

They do work, but very slowly. Just get two good peristaltic pumps, one in, one out. The downside is that they're slow, so less nutrients are exported than if you were too do a large water change at once.

Are you talking continuous, or scheduled/on-demand?
Do you have a controller? It's not hard to program an AWC system.

Otherwise, I'm sure you could do it with a couple of pumps, a couple of timers, and a couple of float switches. The big unknown is how much water you'd want to change over what period of time - that would dictate what pumps would/wouldn't work and how much new and old water you had to account for.

I have a 240 gallon tank and 90 gallon sump and I read 2% daily water change but I was thinking 6+ gallons a day so 45 gallons a week.
