So I do 1 gallon of water change a day useing Dos.I've been making 30 gallons of water at a time using red sea pro salt but seems like salinity is dropping from water being stored.Does any one know why this would happen

Following. I've been doing AWC for a few weeks and have seen my Alk rise, my Calk about the same to slightly lower, and my nitrates actually seem to be RISING! Monitoring closely.

I've checked it with the hanna digital salinity checker. It keeps getting lower.I should start checking my alk and calcium

I am having the same issue with my salinity dropping over time. Have you solved the issue yet? I am pretty sure my issues is related to the DOS taking out more water than it is replacing.

In my setup I use the DOS to do daily water changes of 8000ML. I use Tropic Marine Pro salt and my stored saltwater is not dropping salinity. My theory is my DOS is taking out more water than it is replacing. I have recently re-calibrated my DOS and it appears to be accurate. I do my AWC over a 2 hour window at night. It seems that others do it all throughout the day. I work directly next to my tank so it is ideal to do at night when I am not next to my tank.

Over the past few months I have I off set my daily auto water change (AWC) by 500ML adding more water than I was taking out. I also disabled my Neptune ATK during my 2 hour AWC. I am pretty certain that the DOS is taking out more than it is replacing because my ATK runs on average for around 2.5 minutes after the AWC is complete. Normally my ATK runs for around 15-30 seconds every hour to replace evaporation. That means the ATK is running around 2 minutes longer than average after the AWC is complete. I tested my ATK pump for 2 minutes to measure the amount of water. It seems that overall with my setup there is a 1500ML delta is what is removed vs what is added with my DOS AWC. I have since updated my AWC to take in account that 1500ML delta and hopefully i can get my salinity to peg to my targeted 35PPT. I just made the change to my AWC today I will check back in a few days to provide an update.
