Hi, I wanted to buy an automatic feeder since I am not home when the lights turn on. I was wondering if I could put the frozen cubes of shrimp in there and how long would they last? I don't know what other foods my fish would eat at this time, I haven't tried flake or pellets.

All that I know of are built for pellets and some may accommodate flakes. Fat chance of frozen food unless you have some elaborate refrigerated setup with a doser for food. People have built those types of setups but not something your going to buy off the shelf. I've forgotten and left defrosted food out before and in a matter of hours its rancid.

Agreed...they're not designed for frozen foods. There are a couple of threads related to DIY self frozen food feeders as zoomonster indicated.

I have the apex feeder. Only use it when I'm away for a week or more. Just don't feed your fish for a few days. When some thing hits the water they will go for it. It took about 2 weeks to get them used to it. The apex is loud. When it goes off. The fish are waiting there for the food before it hits the water.
