I had the urge to say this is a silly question but I don't think it is after a little thought. I'm going away for a few days and need to have my fish fed. I would like people's advice on what fish feeders they use and if there are some "no don't touch that with a barge pole" ones out there.

My needs are to feed flake twice a day, with a "would be nice to have" ability of feeding one type of flake in the morning and a different flake in the evening. I did see the Ehiem twin feeder but have read mixed reviews.

I have two Ehiem Everyday Feeders and like them. Easy to use. Can't go wrong.

I would suggest getting some pellet food. flakes are more likely to jam up in an auto feeder
The small battery operated eheim is a good choice of occasional use.

Nothing wrong with three ehiem. But if it's only for a few days the fish will be fine with no food for that period of time.

+3 - I also like "Ehiem" auto feeding units, mix pellet and flakes in a glass jar, shake, and use... the pellets help to break the flakes up just enough to help keep them from jamming; shake enough so particle size is small enough to keep the feeders mouth from jamming - shaken not stirred!

I have had my Eheim feeder get stuck on the "on" position.... Just kept going round and round till it was out of food. I also know other people that it also happened to. I know there are plenty without problems, but it was just my experience.

Forgot to mention, but you also want to pick up a feeding ring or simply make one. They are very inexpensive, but also very easily to make if you have a little tubing sitting around. Here's one of the ones I made.

What these do is to keep floating food from almost immediately getting sucked down your overflow. Position this just below your feeder.
