I have a dual diaphragm industrial pump I have used for years on my past aquariums and I have set it up to do automatic water changes on my 40 Nuvo AIO. My question is what is the best way to schedule the system to do said water changes.
The pump is capable of moving 6.5 GPD but can be adjusted down to 1 GPD. It's a geardrive pump and sounds like a rotisserie motor when running throttled back but wide open is 1/4 as loud.
I can run it wide open and control the lenght of time it runs using my APEX with some overwatch by float switches to be sure its not uver or under filling.
OR
I can just throttle it back and leave it run 24 x 7 for a continuous water change as I had it setup before.
Is there an advantage to the tank or inhabitants of doing it one way or another?

I have mine set to run once a day because its relatively loud. I think anyway you decide to do it is fine and you won't see any difference in the tank
