Hi all,
I’m planning to use Tunze osmolator for my ATO. Sump has about an 8g reservoir for a 5’ peninsula that’s rimless so it’s not going to last long.

I’m looking for ideas as to how folks have solved the problem of having to top off the reservoir every 2-3 days.

thanks!!

I have a 425 litre RODI tank as part of a water change system for a new big tank. But on my Red Sea S650, I have a separate reservoir that is basically a box holding 85 litres of water.

So I have a pump and hose from the main 425 tank and when the S650 reservoir needs refilling I turn the pump on (with apex in my case) and that’s it. No more carrying water around.

You could also look into RO system auto fills to the reservoir with pressure sensors etc., but if it fails and continues to fill up you may have water on the floor. I also have one of these but with controls in place.

You could get an ATO for your ATO reservoir... kidding.

You could turn the reservoir in your sump into a small fuge and then get a much larger, external reservoir for your existing ATO.

Not sure if this helps you or not but my plan is to use one of my old 10 gallon tanks as the top off holding tank with the Tunze osmolator to keep the display full. I bought a used BRS RO/DI so I am going plumb that to the top off tank to keep it full. Since my RO/DI is from BRS it comes with part of this kit preinstalled, I just don't have the float yet. This is the kit from BRS https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/auto-shut-off-kit-for-reverse-osmosis-systems.html

Not sure how your set up is but, I have a water change system in my basement with two 32 gallon brute trash cans. One of the cans is RODI water. It is fed off my RODI system, with a float valve, and I also drilled a hole above that with a tube that runs to a drain, should that float fail.

My tank is on the second floor of our house which is 28 feet above my top off container. I use a tunze osmolator, and a Spectrapure LM3 pump to do lifting of the water through a ro line from the can in the basement. I was able to cut the power wire of the LM3 and just attach it to the osmolator where the pump that comes with it goes. It works without flaw. If you’re able to run a RODI line to any location for a large top off container, this set up would eliminate your need for constant filling.

Here is the pump I use:

This is the Tunze I use:

I use a little plastic float valve with a mechanical shutoff. Prefer to use john guest fittings and just take the RO/DI output straight into the reservoir. Be aware that the float switch can and does fail over time and you are best to buy a decent quality one and if the reservoir is inside then get a leak detector. The one I am using now has run reliably for six years.

Err...that’s what I do. I run an ATK to keep my RSR 250 ATO topped up - programmed to run once a day. I figure by only running it once a day I will prolong the life of the PMUP by avoiding short cycles. I like the gravity fed ATO for it’s 24x7 operation. I don’t have an issue with the float valve gumming up, only clean it every couple of months and run an optical sensor in the return section for a low sump level alert. I’m about to install a RSR 525XL and will be doing the same.
