Is it just me or is the coral market getting a bit crazy? I remember walking into a fish store a few years ago and seeing a nice Aussie gold torch for about 150 per head. at the time, I thought their pricing was crazy. Well now I’m trying to find one and I’m just flabbergasted at how expensive they’ve become. Even with a 250 dollar budget I can’t seem to find anything. I see my local retailers getting indo torches in by the droves, but no aussies.

What I find particularly strange is that people just don’t seem to be buying into these coral prices In general. I see the same corals week after week going unsold, yet apparently prices keep going up. It’s really got me scratching my head.

I think some of it is down to the general price increases we're seeing everywhere with things being shut down. Additionally, some of those corals were purchased at a premium when they were not available on a wide scale. The stores need to hit a certain overhead to pay their bills. Supply and demand... You may be seeing them in your stores, but they may be selling other ones on the days you're not at your LFS? There has been more emphasis on aqua-culturing, which costs more than cutting something that is growing in the wild. (Monetarily, maybe not in other costs) Also.... elite prices attract the elite buyers? Basically... I have no idea. ;Hilarious
