It really is! And it's extremely effective also..
I have been testing one with and for Avast with gfo.. And even using the media i had in my old reactor(just swapping the media out to the new reactor) after three weeks of use, I still recieved a nice drop in phosphorus..
Normally, I hover around 0.03 to 0.04.. But after adding, within 24 hours, I dropped down to 0.01.. I am actually considering, for my next media change, using less media to get back up to the 0.03 range.. But i haven't decided if i want to complicate things with that.. Also, I am running in the single pass mode..
It is amazing to think how effective it is, but the thing that's really cool (well, one of the things) is changing the media is so simple.. Simply pull the inner chamber up and out, place it into a bucket, pop the top off, dump your media, pour in the new media, run that back over to your reactor, line up the groove for the power cord, and slide the media chamber back in.. Your back in buisness! No thumb screws, no pumps to shut down, etc...
The one thing i cannot comment on thus far is the length of the media.. But, and i have talked to the Avast guys, my thinking, is three fold.. First, you don't have to run as much media to achieve the same results, the reaction, because all of the granules are "actually and effectively" coming in contact with the water, it lowers faster, and I am guessing, that the length of time between media changes "should" be a little longer.. I'm not sure exactly how much to be honest, but they gave me some great results during my myriad of questions that were most exciting!
But I also am working on a little video review, that i have to finish one last part. Once I finish, I will share..
But it's an AWESOME reactor to say the least! And without a doubt game changing! I know I'm utterly in love with mine!
