Hi all, I recently just got a steal on an Avast Marine MR5 media reactor! I bought it want to turn it into a DIY algae reactor but now I am reading many stories about the reactors cracking from the LEDs. Is this mostly just because the reactors are the two little fishes? Would the avast have a stronger acrylic that can withstand the LEDs?

It must be, I'm using 2 aquamaxx biopellet reactors and a brs reactor and I see no ill affects on the acrylic. I just don't see the leds I'm using producing that much heat to cause damage. Is there a difference in acrylic vs plastic, maybe a thin plastic reactor could be damaged but not the thick acrylic type of a high end reactor.
