I just set up my small reactor and don't understand one aspect of it. I have it set up with a Sicce nano pump and its fluidizing gfo nicely. What I don't understand is the water output and where it goes. The water output is cascading gently over the sides but it doesn't go over the main body so it seems like it's just constantly recirculating the same volume of water within the reactor. What am I missing here? How does the water leave the reactor? Any ideas guys?

Hey sang, it should have come with some tubing and a small ball valve. The tubing sticks out of the reactor through the hole, so it’s not recirculating. Mine also came with some pvc adapters to run the pump outside the reactor if desired. Let me know if you have questions! Great reactor.

I’m waiting to get their rinse cap when it’s back in stock, which is the only part of using the reactor I didnt like compared to the usual media reactor.

Hey Gabe, yes that's how mine is setup, with the sicce nano sitting on the bottom of the chamber and the ball valve sticking out of it. My question is how does the water leave the actual reactor? It just seems like it will just recirculate the same volume of water over and over again?

It leaves around the tube. Mines dry right now.

Ahh so that tiny gap should let the water exit? LOL didn't even know there was a gap there. Maybe I'll take it out of the sump. Thanks Gabe.

Gabe, do you use the rubber ball when running gfo? If so, what is the purpose of it?

Here’s a quick video.

I can’t view the video. I’ve never run it without the ball.

when you change the media, if you didn’t have the ball, it could make a mess. The ball lets you disconnect, drain and take the media holder out without the media falling out the opening.

I use the steel mesh screen at the bottom and it seems to hold the gfo fine when taking it out of the main chamber. I'll try the ball on the next gfo change out.
