Hello fellow reefers,

My RO BH90 is struggling with a heavily stocked Fish and LPS/Soft 75 gallon tank.

I recently upgraded my sump and I now have space for a skimmer. Researching around, I came accross the AVAST website and noticed they have a DIY Skimmer Kit with Sicce pump added for $119.99.

AVAST Marine Works - CS1 Cone Skimmer Kit - Product Details

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this skimmer that can chime in.

The pump is $119.99, the skimmer kit is $179.99, total with shipping comes out to $311.39

I have the Avast black pearl, awesome piece of equipment! Customer service from Avast is top notch as well. My skimmer was damaged in shipping(bought used) and they were great at helping me get what I needed to repair the skimmer.

Good to know, I am definitively a DIY guy but I just don't know how hard it would be to put one together.

Assembly is cake! I have the CS1 Black Cone with recirc mod. Super easy to put together! Gives you a great feeling of accomplishment.

Awesome !!! That's exactly what I wanted to hear.

What is the purpose of the recirc mod in a skimmer?
