Avast Mod !!!!!!! This is gonna be a winner

5" model airplane propeller from hobby store, $2.25 !!!!!! Lifting the Kalk in the chamber just a bit more for potency

I use that stirrer. What was the problem with the original design? Are you trying to be able to put more kalk in it without jamming the stirrer?

Exactly and to keep the liquid in the chamber a little more towards a slurry, I have three propellers, will add 1 at a time up the shaft until I get it where i want it. So far, doubled my lift on the powder in motion.

So I saw this mod on YouTube recently as well. I understand the want to enhance the slurry my question is at what point is it too much? I was always under the impression that you wanted to dose clean clear kalk effluent and not have any particulates in it so wouldn’t you want the slurry more confined to the lower half of the reactor?

If you have never dosed Kalk, then yes, but if you have decades of experience with Kalk, a person can push the limits.

So I utilize Two Part and have started the Hybrid Balling Method I did kalk in the beginning and just dosed it through my ato got tired of ruining Tunze pumps lol my question to you is when you more or less start dosing slurry would you see more aggressive changes in alkalinity and would they be as stable as the diluted effluent over time?

Before I give advise on kalk dosing, I would feel better about knowing your tank sump reef volume.

So I have multiple one is a softie 300g total system 240 Dt with 60 sump the other is an SPS dominant Waterbox Affinia 165.4. Also I am not interested in switching back to kalk on either just kind of wondering the why’s behind your method. I am always seeking to learn and see others prospectives that’s why I asked.

How are you keeping the input tube from getting tangled up in the propeller ? Did you take it out?

Does it maintain the initial high pH of the freshly added kalk for longer? I remember Randy making a comment about this. Effectiveness drops significantly even with a 0.5 to 1.0 drop. I have the Avast reactor but don’t use it anymore and was thinking about a more powerful motor. Do you have a pH probe in yours? Would be nice to document pH readings before and after for a week.

The propellers were all cut short to clear the input tube. The input runs down into the cylinder near the wall of the acrylic body, so no interference from the input and propellers

The unit maintains 12.3 pH and is logged through Apex. The Dose is very consistent. but just know as Randy says, its not an exact as the pH can very a bit. But with 850 gallons of running water, I'm less worried about that than if I only had a small volume of water.

For me this works flawless and keeps my pH elevated how I like it.

Does it maintain that 12.3 pH longer with the propeller than without? How often do you change out the slurry? I may have to give this a try.
