Avast Swabbie

Im running an Alpha 300 and the skimmer neck get insanely nasty pretty quick. I was considering adding a swabbie. I already have the skimmate locker and love it. Is the swabbie worth the $$$$? Any other info you can share is appreciated.THX

I have beem running XP 8000 ext and had to clean my skimmer head once a week. Now with my new neck cleaner, I only needs to clean it once a months. worths every penny imo.

I have had an Avast Swabbie on my BK 300 for over 2 years, its an absolute must-have. In addition, the service from the guys at Avast is outstanding.

Mine isn't a swabbie, but I have the Reef Octopus branded one and having a neck cleaner works wonders. I did just add a Avast skimmate locker, which allows me to go even longer without touching the skimmer.

I just cleaned out the collection cup, locker, and, well...the entire skimmer so we'll see how long it can go without touching it

I have a Bubble King mini 200 on one of my tanks and my skimmer would make 1" of nasty skimate a week and after the first few days it would be close to the 1" mark. I put the swabbie on and in one week I had 3" of the same nasty skim in the same time. I am going to get a skimate locker next. Mine comes on for 1 minute twice a day. Highly recommend. My only complaint would be for them to make it with a DC motor where you could unplug the cord for easy cleaning as I have to pull out the whole power cord when I clean out the skimmer. My nitrates used to be around 10 do to a heavy bio load and I feed heavy. Nitrate now under 2 on Salifert.

Simple answer. Yes. Well worth it. Great product; great company. Unless you are anal about cleaning your skimmer, it will increase efficiency dramatically.
