Avezol to fight Bryopsis

The world has truly gone upside down when I can find human grade medicine easier than fish grade ones.
I've been hunting around for Reef Flux, or Fish Flucon, to no avail.
In the end, I popped by the local pharmacy and picked this up.

It's 150mg of Fluconazole. Which according to the 300page sticky on top, can and will kill bryopsis for good.

Any thoughts on using this instead of fish specific fluconazole? When I read the information for Diflucan, which is another brand of human grade fluconazole, it had this listed as its ingredients

I can't find the listing for this Avezol, but I am assuming it is similar, as the pharmacies here use these two interchangeably.
Hopefully, since Diflucan is a pink tablet, and this is a capsule, it won't have the red aluminium dye in it...

It's a small blue capsule, which I assume can be cut and the powder poured out.

What do you guys think? Go, or No Go?

I really can't answer that. I always bought Reef Flux from BRS. Maybe @Randy Holmes-Farley can answer this.

Way out of my expertise, but this will be a good learning experience.

Ok... So i cut open two capsules, (150mg each, that makes 300mg/60 liters, ie, 5mg/l) poured the powder into a cup and mixed in with some tank water. Slowly injected this mixture into the back of my wave maker.

So far so good. All the lps and sps seem unaffected. Zoas closed up a bit but not completely. Anemones, inverts and clowns seem unaffected.

I'll update here over the next few days. Wish me luck...

Day 1.
Today, all livestock appears normal.
All corals and nems are open and extended.
The two clowns are swimming around and being... clowns

My zoas closed up a little earlier today. Hopefully it's nothing to do with the fluconazole...

Day 2, everything still looks the same.
I've continued skimming, but raised the cup so high that it's effectively not skimming, just providing some aeration.

I used my pharmacies branded fluconazole capsule for my nano, worked like a charm, took about 10 days but I left it in there for 14 just to be sure.

Fluconazole absolutely worked for my bryopsis mate! 7 days and not a strand in sight .

Day 3. Livestock still looks normal. I've returned the skimmer cup to the original position but so far it hasn't skimmed anything. The bryopsis seems to look thinner. Like, more fragile. I haven't stuck my hands in there to pull any clumps out, so I can't be sure.

Day 4. Everything still looks the same. Although my anemone decided to go for a walk after 4 months of sitting in the same place. I did shift a rock on the other side of the tank around though, so not sure if that had something to do with her getting wanderlust.

Day 5. It's amazing! The bryopsis has reduced by about 80%! Just little wisps of it here and there!
All other livestock behaving normally.

Day 6. Skimmate is really wet. But the bryopsis is almost gone. Just one lone little fragile looking tuft left, which I think will be gone by tomorrow or the day after. All other livestock normal.

So nice to watch that evil bryopsis waste away and disappear! Glad it’s working for you. Hold off on waterchanges for as long as you possibly can, it will help make sure it stays gone for good!

Yeah, I plan to keep the water for about 2 weeks. So I'm skipping the water change this weekend.
