Aquatica Reef Supply Lou. KY
Paul -owner

I hate to publicly blast a place of business but due to their lack of interest in the fact that they have given me bryopsis twice in the last 3 years ,...to be honest i frankly dont care at this point. If I can save ONE person the heartache ive encountered then I will feel avenged.

When discussed with the owner about him passing out free algae with everything sold [bryopsis, bubble & hair algae, plus aiptasia or majanos]..he simply stands there with his arms crossed saying " right, right, right...." which makes him look only worse in the customer's mind. Plus he will gladly sell you some stupid magnesium which doesnt do squat diddly and after a few thousand "rights" I personally am through with him and his lack of concern for ruining so many peoples tanks without a care to clean up his act.

Yes i did give him a heads up about the Fluconazole treatment earlier this year and he just simply did nothing to treat his tanks. If you goto google reviews for his place you will see many others complaining of his lack to do anything positive about his shop.

Goto Aquatica if you're looking for "where the green fern grows"

Ive been wanting to try some of the stores in Louisville. I just live two hours south. Someone else said that hes not a very helpful person either. I have been to Greentree in Clarksville but what would you suggest?

As a matter of fact i goto Greentree Pet Center in Clarksville too and enjoy every trip I make to their store. I have not had one problem in all the years i have been buying corals, fish etc from them. Even Sandys Pet Shop on Hess lane is better than going to Aquatica Reef Supply. Sandys recently cleaned up alot of their tanks but in my honest opinion it seems that Greentree is still on top in this area. I have also known Jay and Tony for 30 years who run Pets Palace in Louisville and they tend to keep a pretty clean setup as well.

If I had to make a list it of who to visit first to last it would be Greentree, Sandys, Pets Palace, and any other saltwater store listed in the directory other than Aquatica. They dont make my list anymore. I am done with his hippie ways and i think he needs to clean his tanks as bad as he needs to wash his hair.

Oh and i forgot to mention that we have a new store in the area called Blue Star Aquatics. I think they are also located in Jeffersonville/ Clarksville area. You would need to google them to get their hours of operation. I havent been there but i heard they are really nice and clean store.

So you brought home a coral and it gave your tank bryopsis once.
Then you brought home another coral and it happened again?
Looks like you didn't learn your lesson the first time.
If you don't quarantine your fish and corals, you can expect to get and number of issues.
It's up to YOU, not the store owner to be proactive with whats going into your tank.
That includes inspecting dipping/treating and quarantining everything.

I have veen to Blue Star Aquatics a few times. Bought some nice size coral colanies for cheap

Yes,Blue Star has been in business for about 4 years now. I generally go to Blue Star for a lot of supplies Pets Palace has never been a Saltwater store so I never went in there. I QT all corals and fish that I get from any pet store to many corals and fish go thru a store to not do it. Lat aiptasia I got was from a Green tree coral .:)

I've been wanting to try Blue Star but i have yet to make it there. Pets Palace was at one time a close place to buy the basics like saltwater fish ...usually the mean ones like a Lionfish or eel and maybe some salt mix but they have leaned away from doing much with the hobby these days. I suspect they find it too hard for the constant turn over of employees to learn the ropes. One gets fired or quits before they learn enough to be useful in maintaining the stock.

On the subject you touched upon ,...I need to setup another hospital/quarantine tank myself.

I think I remember seeing Pets Palace close to Cherokee Park right? If it is, I went in there before and the fish were kinda bleh but the reptile stock was pretty sweet. I want to give all the Louisville area saltwater stores a chance to find one to my liking. Where I live just outside Bowling Green, there is one called Pet Central that is pretty decent. But usually I have to drive to Aquatic Critter in Nashville, 7 Seas in Hendersonville or to a new place in Mt Juliet called Oceanside Aquariums. Shameless plug there guys. lol
