Gotta love them. For sure your rocks have to be well placed. I love the tunnels they make it makes the aquarium appear more natural. I love the appearance of having an EEL without really having one. Watching them swim is funny. They use their tail to find their way home. If the can't find it they turn around to go home. Very interesting breed of fish.

Those guys are awesome! Never knew they got that big... I can see myself getting a pair hmm...

One of my favorite fish also. Lots of character and they constantly change the "sand" scape in the tank.

I have one that has been with me for 6 years. It was two inches long and 1/4 in wide when I bought it. It is now over a foot long. I had three but lost the other two this past year.

Thanks for sharing! Shed a new light on engineer gobies for me!! :)

Love 'em! They really are very entertaining fish.

I used to have one. It was tiny when I bought it. After about a week it dissappeared and I thought it had died. Ir reappeared months later and was about 6 inches long. I just happened to see him peaking his head from under a rock. Very cool, I would like to get another one after I settle into my new house.

I just watched the vid... what kind is that? Mine was black with a blue stripe. I didnt realize there were different colors. I really like that one.

We have 3 of them

They even act like eels some times even aggressive, but nothing like the real ones lol

I wanted one until I heard stories of them eating smaller fish. A lfs said they'll eat what ever they can fit in their mouths. Anyone here experience something like that?

Mine is housed with an inch long watchman goby who even shares one of his cave entrances. He could very easily gulp the watchman but has never showed any interest what so ever.

I have known several people who have had them in their reef and wish they never did, they are constantly moving sand around burying things, they also knock rocks over.... If you are throwing one in a reef make sure your rocks are secure and wont come down as he shifts the sand.

Mine are about a foot long when I bought them they were just a little smaller.

How old are those guys? I'm definitely thinking of getting myself some now!

I'm not really sure how old they are. I believe they only grow to about 12" and the stripes change when they are adults.

They definitely make mountains in my tank.

Sorry for your loss they truly are awesome fish. Love the individual personality they each have.

You're welcome

Never knew they got that big! Looks too much like an eel for my blood!

That's why I bought them. The look of an eel with out them eating all my fish.

Yes that are. Thanks

They are a must. I never seen them until i seen these two at the LFS.

I'm not sure. Black and blue would look cool.

If they are tiny fish then yes it's possible with any fish. My clown fish, Royal Gramma, and a Angel fish used to eat live feeder fish with a lion fish I used to have. It does chase after my little crabs but I haven't lost anything in my tank.

I have one for 2yrs now and got him when he was 1/4" big. I only got him that small cause I've had a fully grown engineer in there already, 12".
The baby hid for a good 6 months, so they are only compatible if added at the same time! So I gave my 12 goby to my brother.
The baby is a full 12" now and cause I run a bare bottom DT, he doesn't make any avalanches or disturb any corals, fish or inverts. Just love them
