Well it's a quarter after one in the morning and it's a nice 28° out and my whole complex is out of power, let's hope this gets resolved quickly.... This can't be good....

Throw some warm blankets over tank and if can get a battery air pump!!

I've been wanting to get the EcoTech battery back up for my MP40 but it kept getting pushed down the list, needless to say it has moved back up the list.

I hear ya. Hope power comes back on soon!! Might look at a generator, but usually cheaper spring and summer!

Live in an apartment, no generator. Came back on for a brief moment than right back off. Screw you NES.

Thanks Alex.

Run it on the balcony haha or build a battery back up with a deep cycle battery, a inverter and a trickle charger.

Imagine the looks I would get for having a generator on the balcony. By the time I brought all those things I could've just brought the one EcoTech makes.

Well it seems as if the power has been restored and will stay that way.

A shout out to Cheng who offered to house some of my livestock of needed.

Now if I could get EcoTech to donate me a battery back-up.

Glad it came back on. The power in my sub was turning off and on, on Sunday. I wonder if the other's that live by me were losing power on Sunday morning as well because they have been working on all the power lines nearby.
Makes me want to buy a generator or make a battery back up... It's been on the list of things to get but keeps getting pushed down.

I actually have 2 UPSs on the way for this. Even little blips could cause big issues for me with my non-drilled tank and manual u-tube overflow.

no bueno

How long will a UPS run though? Thought I did some calculations before and to run one pump and a heater it wouldn't last but a few hours...

All depends on the load obviously. I need to check the usage of my return and heater and see what they come to. I have a volt meter that will show me the actual draw from each cord. I have alerts already in place for when the power goes out and get those via emails and text. I have 2 UPSs on the way, one will be inline and live with the heater and pump, the other a spare in the event we have a long outage.

I'm going to sound dumb asking this but, what are you referring to as a "UPS"?

Uninterrupted Power Supply... I think. It's a battery back up for computers. Basically gives you enough time to save what you are working on and shut your computer down. From my research if you need to run a pump and a heater for more than a few hours a rather large UPS will not work. UPS's are fairly expensive if I recall correctly as well.

A deep cycle battery, an inverter and a trickle charger be a better investment. UPC don't last but a hour or 2. A deep cycle can run a heater and power head for a day or more. Depending on heater size.

these UPSs I'm getting aren't costing me anything. One of the 2 being sent my way should be a SmartUPS 3000 which should get me 6 hours at 200W @ 120V
