Last night out power went out for about 45 minutes. in that time, I could just run my SUMP pump on the battery backup. this meant my tank was dark well before normal times.
anyways, when the power was restored it was after main lights out and just the moonlights were on. I was checking on the tank to make sure everything came back up correctly and saw a bunch of floaties in the water. ??? sure enough, close inspection revealed newly hatched fry. we have never seen them in the 3 years our clowns have been laying as we were always in bed. knew we dont have the facilities to rear them so we just let nature take its course. BUT when I saw it, I called the kids over. we had a fun time last night watching them in the flashlight.
just for fun we scooped several bowls full and dumped in the calmer waters of the sump. but sirvival is not expected. Hopefully, this winter I can get the two hatching tanks I want to build up and running and get rotifer cultures going.
poor quality video and photos to follow:
