Baby bamboo shark

Hey everyone, I brought a bamboo shark egg yesterday and surprisingly when I woke up this morning there he was.

He looks big and healthy, just getting used to swimming.

I have him in a breeder mesh box to keep him safe while he gets stronger.

Can anyone give me some advice to keep him happy and healthy?

Start with cut up pieces of live ghost shrimp fed with a tong. After a month I just put the ghost shrimp in the tank and let the babies hunt for them. Keep trying other foods after a month to ween it off of the ghost shrimp.

Thankyou for the reply. I started with frozen fish cut up into Small pieces removing any bone are hard parts. He has been eating that well iv also soaked these in vitamins. He's now out of the mesh box as of today and is exploring the tank. Is there any behaviours I should look out for?

He hasn't hidden or really settled yet although it's only been roughly half an hour. Would you say this is expected? Thanks so much

It seems perfectly normal, I would keep doing what you are doing and give it a day to adjust. They say you have up to 10days to get them to eat or they will refuse and starve to death.

He might be looking for food. It wouldn't hurt to try to feed him. Message me anytime

+1 to all that has been said here. Ghosties are your BEST friend in this for sure. Several of us have been there and done that for these animals. Once you get them to eat consistently, you are on the hook for 20 years. A healthy bamboo shark is very hardy and a wonderful animal to have.

One thing to add, if you have access to an asian market, buying whole frozen or fresh squid/ octopus is an insane helper getting them off of live food. Cutting it up into properly sized pieces makes em go nuts.
