I got this little fella (blue mandarin)

the other day at PetCo. There was two but sadly the other one had passed away ://
I ended up getting just him. He has been doing fine in the tank, got him copepods to eat and he was eating.
This was 5 days ago that I’ve had him. I haven’t seen him since yesterday afternoon.
I got really worried because I got attached to him and he was also a lot of money, so I dug through my tank. I took the back chamber things out to check if he got sucked up, which he didnt. I picked up every single rock and did not see him, unless he was wedged in a tiny crevice that he was holding onto.
I have 3 anemones in the tank, 2 bubble tips and a Haitian Condy. I got lied to at the same PetCo about that Nem, I was told it was a bubble tip but it’s a Condy which I’ve read wasn’t reed safe but he’s been fine. I’m not sure if one of the nems ate him?
Is he lodged in a rock sleeping somewhere?
Is he buried in the sand?
Any help is appreciated. I’m really worried and feel really bad. Thank you. 80D5FF42-FDF5-4A32-A20A-B52C667574A0.jpeg A6A1D18B-B1BF-44A7-BE77-DBAC8C91EBB4.jpeg 467FF781-9BDA-4520-A075-012C0BF0BB4D.jpeg

I'm really really hoping he is just hiding somewhere in there.

I think he’s gone:(

If your nem got him you would have probably seen it as it's a very slow process for a nem to swallow a fish. Even then the nems you have don't actively hunt fish. It could have died and the nem got lucky and it drifted into it though. As small as it is your cuc could make short work of it too. Mandarins are very hard and the survival rate is extremely low. If you want that type of fish try a ruby red dragonet or scooter blenny they both adapt better to tank life.

Mine disappeared for several days (at least 4) and then I saw it one night right when I was going to bed. I've seen it a few times since then. I think it is living in a hole in one of the rocks in the back side of my tank. So I would not give up hope yet.

Seems like you just started this tank last month? A new tank and at only 13.5G is not a suitable environment for even a single Mandy. You will need to supply a constant source of pods or live baby brine to support the mandarin. They do best in bigger, established tanks with abundant pod populations. They often starve in newer and small tanks.
