Baby clowns dying off?

I bred my first batch of clowns, successfully got them through meta and I've been working on growing them out for about 2 months now. Within the past week I've had a number of them die. I can't seem to find the cause, they had all been eating well, water parameters are mostly in line (nitrates are a bit high but not dangerously high). The ones that are dying seem to have been the larger ones and look like they've not been eating. I had been feeding them normal flake food ground up finely. Any thoughts? I lost 4 today and there's no obvious signs of disease.

When clowns start spawning, I've found that those first several nests are not the best. Meaning that either the male or female hasn't figured out all the nuances of spawning/fertilization/proper nest care. I've had instances where it took them months after first signs of spawning to have healthy clutches with limited die off. It all depends.

My clowns had been spawning for about 8 months before I tried raising them. The die off was my own fault. The food I was feeding was not providing the right nutrition.

I've been breeding for just about 10 years now and I've been using the Otohime product for my broodstock as well as my growout. They offer many different sizes of pellet and the nutrition quality is excellent. The only issue is the pricing can be high due to the large size packaging.

Yeah, I switched to tdo and my losses stopped almost instantaneously.

@Reef Nutrition TDO is great stuff, I like the whole series for helping with growout, my students here are learning how to breed and raise clowns are once we get them through meta plan on using TDO for grow out.
