I know it's off topic but what are some ways you baby proofed your tanks. So far we have magnetic locks on the cabinet doors, and husband is installing plexiglass on the back cabinet tomorrow. I have a toddler n a 4 month old. I don't want a cheese balls or soap in my sump.

I'm in the same boat. My 1 year old LOVES being around the tank. And every time that stand door opens she's right there wanting to take a peek I side. Locks on the stand door is my biggest suggestion. And if your tank doesn't sit flush against the wall some sort of barrier between the wall and your stand. And no buttons that can be pushed left on the outside (pump controllers, apex control screen, ect...)

My husband came up with a brilliant idea he's using lexan and screwing it on the back. Drilling holes for the plumb work.

Great idea :) Only concern would be about your cabinet getting hot during the summer. But a fan can be installed at a later time for heat and ventilation. Fingerprints on the lower half of your glass will be fun to lol. Paige ( my youngest, 1 years old) has to put her goldfish snacks by the other fish lol

My 16 month old Madelynn likes to hide cheese balls, I had to baby proof a baby gate yesterday. She likes to terrorize EVERYTHING. We call her monster for a reason. So we are trying to figure everything old before we fill it. We thought about the heat, it's in front of a ac. It's easier to heat a tank then cool it down.

Make sure they can't grab on to the top edges of the glass and hang on it, same goes for any piping and cables. Build some temporary plywood walls for piping if you have to that's easy to remove.

Wrap a baby pen or two around the tank.
That's what I had to baby proof lol

Completely unrelated note; I love.the name Madelyn! I wanted to make our second daughter that but my wife wouldn't allow it. I also wanted Madison, she shot me down for that to. Eventually we agreed on Paige. My oldest name is Grace :)

I work with the public making house calls and I mentioned it because I’ve actually seen some one do this with their tv stand. They had 2 gates hooked together going from one side to the other in a U shape around the tv stand.

As soon as you let mine touch something it's hers. I can't let her under there yet, she will pick up anything in hide it in there. She is my mini monster. My cell phone is hers doesn't play on it but let it ring she has to answer n babble in it

Also let me remind everyone what can happen when a 3 year old gets up before you and you also run an open top with no screen.

;Jawdrop Oh no! Was everything ok? How did they get to the top? Pull up a chair?

I have no idea how or why he did it but I probably lost about 80% of my coral, all the inverts were fine though. Ran some carbon and a 50% water change.

This happened Aug 1st 2016.

Edit: I forgot I had no fish at the time hence why no screen top on.

Kids are naturally silly I swear. I walked in my living room the other day my toddler was standing up on our coffee table naked. And I realized she was wet... she somehow stole her daddy's drink that was 5 ft talk she is 2 and a half feet. She figured out her potty chair is also a stool... Yeah. I really hope she doesn't do that....
