Back again

After reading about flukes, and watching the trigger, I notice him yawning. Might be on to something here folks. Should I treat the entire tank? My thought is if one has them, could they all??

If your fresh water dip confirms flukes, then yes.. you'd want to treat the whole tank. Your right about if one has it, they all do.

posted some pics of my clown trigger a month or so ago. No one was really able to point me in the right direction. It has gotten worse, so I'm going to try again. The trigger has an area of spots behind his eye, and now surrounding his eye. Both eyes have recently fogged over. He is still very active and eats like he did before. The spots behind his eye have been there for over a month. The spots around the eye are new today. These spots don't look like ich. No other fish in the tank is sick in any way. Any ideas?

You may try adding a cleaner shrimp to the tank. It's a guess for sure, but I have a cleaner shrimp in my tank and he used to get on a yellow tang, which would literally swim over next to him so he can hop on and do his thing. If the spots are some kind of parasite, the shrimp may try to clean it off, and your fish might invite him to do so.

Yawning is another symptom of flukes. A Clown Trigger should tolerate a FW dip very well. PLUS if flukes have gone to the eyes you will want to do a FW dip to force some to dislodge before dosing Prazipro. Prazi causes flukes to spasm and drop off; if too many flukes are "spasming" (is that even a word?) all at once, it can actually kill the fish.

Yes, as it travels thru the water. So it could travel thru your return.

I swear when I first saw the pics of the fish's eye, the first thought that entered my head was "flukes". If I were the OP, I would be tempted to give that trigger a FW dip just to be sure. More info in the links below.

I was thinking flukes as well. If none are present, humble wouldn't you treat for an infection of the eyes?

Dip, and then prazi is your friend.

I would probably treat regardless (flukes eating away at the eye can cause a secondary infection). Erythromycin is the treatment of choice for eye infections (and it is mostly reef safe.) Although oftentimes Kanaplex works just as well - but that is not as reef safe.

Makes more sense. Good thought.

Scrimp won't make it to the bottom of the tank with three triggers

Ok folks. Did the freshwater dip today. Had to wait for a day off. Treated the tank with prazipro. Didn't quite have enough for my system volume but I figured something was better than nothing. Gunna pick up more this evening. Didn't have a black bucket so used the trusty lowes blue. Can't really see much in the bottom as far as parasites.

Where would I get the antibiotic? Does my LFS have such a thing? Do I treat the tank or is that a hospital situation?
