Back at it! Peroxide vrs cyanobacteria

Started dosing Thursday morning. 1ml/10G every 12 hours. Cyano has decreased by 75%. What remains is very dark in color. Using Swan brand peroxide 3%. It has been 1 week since I went lights out. No effect so far on ponies or cleaner shrimp. Star polyp coral and Devil`s hand coral have closed up, but they have done this in the past when I have gone lights out. The amount of Cyano has never been this low since it first appeared after starting tank in August.

After a 20 gal water change algae has been releasing like crazy skimmer is acting like I am cycling new rock. I have removed the biodenitrator and slowed down the flow through my GFO media. No livestock are showing any discomfort coral are dulling out a little but seem to be gaining color back with a little Po4 back in the water.

I've not tried either but you can also find tanks that gave crashed with chemi-clean. Even on this forum.

I have used chemiclean in both of my nanos and have never had a problem.

I know several refeers that have used it with success. My point was either way you go you can and will find both successes and failures with both ways.

Most of the time it was a faulty process, misdosing or not reading carefully enough. And fewer times it's just a cascading of devastating events you cannot control, predict or stop.

I would agree that most failures are due to not following direction and just jumping into something which by human nature is the more often than not. By this I hope that it will provide not only proof but a tried and proven method and can become a cost effective remedy on top of less stress to the inhabitants than many other treatments out there.

H2O2 works. It's harsh on the corals, but does work.

This has been been brought to my attention by @cowboy on the GFO

As for the biopellets won't harm the bacteria but unsure how H202 will react on the pellets in general.
These media's may be outside the scope of this work but should be noted GFO may have to be taken offline during h2o2 dosing.

It means the GFO breaks down the hydrogen peroxide that lands on it. That is what I also would expect as the iron will catalyze many of these sorts of reactions.

Turned my gfo off last week before starting the peroxide dosing. I still dose sodium nitrate. Couldn't be more happier with the progress this far.

If you want to optimize the lifetime of the peroxide, I would. GAC too, since it can also catalyze this decomposition.

Ive been debating weather or not to start dosing vinager. Do you think the H2O2 would have any negative effect with carbon dosing.
