Hello. I have the infinia 190.5 and was thinking if adding a roller matt 1200 by Red Seaz. Something came to my attention that when you connect the roller matt to your main oioe. The back chamber will dry out. That means when you are adjusting the overflow box at the back and water gets through your emergency pipe. Theres going to be left over water at the back that would be there forever unless you physically remove it? What solutions do i have in here?

And I don't understand your second sentance. What is a "oioe"?

I meant pipe. I dont know what the auto correct felt there for a second. That sump picture. when connecting roller to the main pipe the back chamber will dry out. And then everytime u adjust the overflow at the back water will go througj your emergench pipe. I guess i have to reroute the emergency pipe to the skimmer chamber

Water should always flow over the wier weather the main, or the emergency.
Hooking up a roller matt will come from the main. Not sure what you mean.
If the emergency is engaged, it voids the roller matt. You will need to address the blockage then business as usual.

Are you saying the emergency pipe in the sump?
Yes it will void the mat, until you address the blockage. If there is a bulkhead, it will lower to it's height.

Alright let me try to explain that in a better way. So without the roller matt right? The water flows through your main pipe to the back chamber and overflows to your sump correct? With the roller matt connected the water flows to the roller matt and not to your back chamber anymore. That means the back chamber of your sump will be dry. And the only time u get water back there is when you are adjusting the overflow box water height and u get water through the emergency pipe. And when that happens since tje back chamber have no water. The left over water from your emergency pipe will be stuck there forever

I believe you are talking about a chamber in your sump, correct? If so you need to modify your sump. See below.

I think you have something plumbed wrong.

All pipes lead to the sump. Back chamber, front chamber, side chamber, any and every chamber you want to call it.
They all will empty out.

Every chamber should be connected in the sump. They do have flow leading one direction to the last chamber holding the return pump.

Where does water go from the drain chamber to the socks? In my WB sump there was a small baffle that took the water from the bottom of the sump up to the socks, I imagine yours is the same. When you remove the socks, you would also remove that baffle so the water would not be isolated in that small compartment.

Here's a photo of my 1200 install in my Waterbox sump:

As you can see the emergency drain water will just collect under the 1200. I had to hard plumb it due to a lack of space, my sump had only 12inches of diameter to work with.

For reference, this is what the sock section looked like before I removed it. You can see the baffle I was talking about, that's how the water went up to the sock. Perhaps your sump doesn't do this and the baffle is not there, but instead a notch is created at the top of the drain section to flow the water over to the sock?

If so, then ya you will have a dead spot and will have to hook up a flexible hose to somewhere else in the sump and that will be an unusable area in your sump.

Yes exactly what im talking about thank you. I have that back chamber like that pic i cant remove. I wonder how im going to reroute the emergency pipe to the skimmer

Yeah, I came across the same issue, mine cannot be removed either. Fortunately for me, the drain section is connected to the sock section at the bottom. Is yours not connected the same way or does it overflow directly to the sock section instead? If so, then ya you have a dry sump area and I suppose your only option is to run a hose. The last section of the emergency drain shouldn't be glued so you can maybe hook up a coupling on one end and a flexible hose in another and drop that into the sock section.

Not gonna lie though, it'll look terrible, unfortunately. I hope someday Waterbox designs their sumps with filter rollers in mind. It was a huge pain to install mine.

Also, please make sure you get the Red Sea sump modification kit. You will absolutely need it.

The new infinia 190.5 is made to have a roller matt in it. I dont need the modification kit it fits right on. thats the 2023 tank model they have. That socks section can be removed without any modification. U just lift it

Which roller mat drops right in? My Red Sea 1200 doesn’t seem to fit…and waterbox’s website doesn’t say. You have one that drops in?
