I just bought a goniastrea moon rock and it doesn't look like it's doing good. About a 1/3 is turning white. Will I be able to bring it back to life or is this a goner? I'll try and get a picture as soon as I can. Do these corals lose color when they are first introduced into a new reef tank?

Might be bleaching, what lights/settings are you running at?

AB+ wave. 2 Hydra 26 HD. not the ramp up and steady. Looks more like this ^ The moon rock is on the bottom on top of light diffuser on top of aragonite sand. Looked fine when I bout it but once I got it home it didn't look to good. Also, since we were going through a heat wave I put in a couple of ice packs to cool the water down a bit and they broke open. Thank God they were non toxic but I think they still contributed to it. As soon as I get home I'll post a picture of it. I really hope this one pulls through. I've been after this moon rock for the longest. Everyone I found was always over $250. Since one was fragged I got it for $40.

Pics and water parameters will help once you get the chance, I'd be tempted to turn off the lights or turn them down just in case it's bleaching

Here's a pic. This pic is with the lights off. I'm feeding Reef Roids and Seachem Zoo Plankton. Hopefully it'll give the boost it needs. When I got home from work it's looking much better. The upper and lower colors were not there. Now they are. So I must be doing something right. Calcium 420ppm my alkalinity is a little low 8.3. I usually have it at 9.0 or 9.1. Magnesium is 1320. Nitrates are good. Phosphates are good.
