I got this freebie last June in Reefapalooza, I was stoked but I really knew my tank wasn't ready... but that didn't stop me from buying stuff.

Wrecked em, dang near killed em.
Felt bad because it was just dying before my eyes, rather than give up I just started improving the water quality, and she's BACK!!!

The first pic is the day I got her
Second was the devastation I wrought on her
Third is the strong come back.

There is hope lol

I had a similar experience with a cyphastrea.

I thought it was dead. It looked completely dead. The only reason I didn't move it is because it wasn't that noticeable and I was a bit lazy about it.

Months went by, then one day I noticed a polyp had come out on it.

That was about 6-7 months ago. Now the original part is completely restored and it's about triple the original size.

The most surprising thing was that the old skeleton parts are still in use. When I first saw the polyp I thought it would have to grow up and the encrust over all the old growth, but to my surprise the polyps all appeared in the old skeleton where the originals were, and the old skeleton regained it's color etc.

Quite amazing.

Haha I love getting down to one polyp and then salvaging it back to life. In that stunner's case though, it only came back for blood. Those things are vicious!

I have had a very similar experience with montipora. I can grow most needy SPS, acros, stylos ect… but the Monti was dying off and Browning out. Here he is now, this is an older photo so there is much more green on him now.

Now my newly added setosa is bleaching on the tips, hopefully it makes a come back. Actually it’s bleached more than it had done earlier.
